Goateesteve is widespread particularly in Calabria region (southern Italy) and in Sardinia region (large Italian island) with some variations.

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • tender goat meat 400 ,
  • fresh tomatoes or tomato sauce 400 ,
  • 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil,
  • red wine vinegar,
  • 1 medium onion,
  • basil,
  • fennel seeds,
  • chili pepper,

Goateesteve recipe preparation:

Cut goat meat into small pieces, after having kept it in water and red wine vinegar for 2 hours. Drain goat meat and brown it in a pan with olive oil. Add finely cut onion, tomatoes, chili pepper, basil, fennel seeds and salt. Cook on medium heat for at least 2 hours.
